ST. GEORG RESTAURANT TIPPS

Dunkles, gemütliches Restaurant-Interieur. Gedeckter Tisch für die Gäste, mit gerahmten Bildern an den Wänden, dunkler Decke und gedämpfter Beleuchtung.

St. Georg is one of the most exciting and central areas of the city. Here, artists and LGBTQ+ individuals live together, with various nationalities coming together – a melting pot that has transformed the oldest district of Hamburg into a vibrant scene neighborhood.

In the past, the St. George Leprosy Hospital was the center of the district; today, life unfolds along the "Lange Reihe" and in the adjacent side streets. Trendy, cozy, and top-notch restaurants with menus for every taste are popping up on every corner.

Our Restaurant-Tips:

Das Dorf

Das Dorf on Lange Reihe has long since become an institution in the district. Rustic, cozy, traditional, stylish, and homely – the restaurant serves freshly prepared German dishes, offering both classics and modern interpretations. Homemade specialties such as Original Wiener Schnitzel (veal, of course), Hamburg’s “Stubenküken” prepared two ways, or delicious chanterelle and cream cheese pasta pockets are just some of the culinary delights on offer.

“Too much of a good thing can be wonderful,” once said Hollywood diva Mae West.

Frau Möller

At Frau Möller on Lange Reihe, the old wooden floorboards creak, the heavy wooden tables bear the marks of many long nights, and the place is always packed. The motto here: no experiments, just sticking to tradition. That’s exactly why it feels especially cozy and familiar. The kitchen serves simple German food and a wide variety of draft beers. The restaurant is especially known for its Irish draft beers like Guinness and Kilkenny.

Vasco da Gama

Vasco da Gama has also long been a staple on Lange Reihe. Rustic in style, but with fine Spanish and Portuguese cuisine instead of German dishes. Top recommendations are, of course, the classics such as paella, tapas, and seafood, but also hearty rump steak, fresh salads, and fish dishes.

Juicy beef, tender chicken breast, or vegetarian options – whether with avocado, goat cheese & fig sauce, grilled vegetables, arugula and Italian hard cheese, or vegan. There’s the perfect choice here for every burger lover!
