The STAY! should actually be located somewhere on the outskirts of the city – given the reasonable prices. Fortunately, there was no room there. Now our hotel is located right in the city center – amidst culture, creativity, and Hanseatic down-to-earthness. The STAY! is a true design hotel in Hamburg that truly deserves the name.
The STAY! should actually be located somewhere in an industrial area on the outskirts of Hamburg – given the reasonable room rates. Luckily, all the building plots there were already taken. That's why our hotel is now located where most others would also like to be – in the heart of Hamburg's city center and in a neighborhood that, in just a few square meters, combines everything that defines Hamburg: internationality and Hanseatic down-to-earthness, big city hustle and bustle and tranquil life. Combined with art, culture, and creativity, the STAY! is a true design hotel in Hamburg.
Picturesque living – at STAY! you can take this quite literally
The owner family has long shared a close love for the Mediterranean island of Ibiza. Our friends Jull, who sadly passed away, and Uriel Cazes live and work here. Both followed in the footsteps of Dalí and Miró with their expressionist and surrealist paintings.
Experience what happens when you take away an artist's canvas and instead offer them an entire room to celebrate their art in the rooms of our design hotel. Depending on availability, you can immerse yourself in an artistic dream world. Take a look at the artists here:
Hosts with heart and soul! It runs in our family
A trained businessman, owner Horst Dunkel combined his passion for warm hospitality with his professional expertise early on. In 1986, he opened a retirement and nursing home in Henstedt-Rhen, just outside Hamburg. After 19 successful years, he decided to focus entirely on the hotel industry and took over the Dünenburg Wellness Hotel on Sylt in 2005, which he managed with great success in Westerland for nine years.
Meanwhile, daughter Carolin Dunkel had also followed in her father's footsteps: after completing her hotel management training, she took over responsibility at the Hotel Dünenburg.
With the opening and joint management of the Stay! Hotel, father and daughter are now writing the next chapter in Hamburg St. Georg.
